DONEGAL’S Yvonnne McMonagle has been named as the Ladies Gaelic Football Association’s July Player of the Month.
The Glenfin woman was one of the stars of the show as Donegal won their first ever Ulster senior ladies title last month when they defeated Monaghan 2-12 to 1-10 at St Tiernach’s Park.
McMonagle had netted a staggering 6-5 in the 10-35 to 0-4 rout over Down in June and she had a real influence in July when Davy McLaughlin’s team captured the O’Harte Cup.
After hitting five points in the 3-19 to 1-7 semi-final win over Tyrone and scored three points in the final.
Last weekend, McMonagle – who returned from Australia for this campaign – scored two goals as Donegal bowed out in a 2-13 to 2-11 defeat to Armagh in the All-Ireland quarter-final.
McMonagle was in Dublin yesterday to pick up her award (pictured above), sponsored by The Croke Park Hotel.
