SO THE VOTES have been totted and you’ve picked a winner of the Anthony Conaghan Cars Player of the Week.
This week’s winner is Aoife McColgan (pictured above by @JeromeQuinn), who picked up 224 votes for his part in the Donegal ladies’ success in the Lidl NFL Ladies Division 2 final win over Westmeath.
The 16-year-old from Malin took the award from Eoghan McGettigan in second and Niall McCrossan in third – who respectively helped Naomh Conaill and Ardara to the County Minor League final.
AOIFE McColgan took a call from Michael Naughton only a few weeks ago to deputise in goal for the Donegal ladies in place of Laura Gallagher. On Saturday, live on TG4 the 16-year-old kept a clean sheet and made a number of fine saves to keep her team in front. The Malin native was back at work in SuperValu on Sunday morning in Carndonagh and her story is something of a fairytale and was picked up by a national audience.
Thanks to all who voted and we’ll have another poll this week after the action in the Michael Murphy Sports & Leisure Donegal championships.
