Storm Gareth proved no match for Red Bull Storm Chasers when they revelled in the wild Donegal seas during one of the worst storms of this winter.
Eight daring world champion windsurfers landed at Magheraroarty on Sunday for the most challenging windsurfing contest on the planet.
Competitors took on 8m storm force waves, 130km/hr winds, snow, hail and thunder as Storm Gareth created wild conditions on the Atlantic.
The dramatic seas around Donegal were just what competitors had hoped for and they embraced the ‘radical’ waves to produce heart-stopping action.
The winning riders were crowned on Tuesday, with Australia’s Jaeger Stone taking the top spot. Philip Köster took the second place trophy, followed by Leon Jamaer in third and Robby Swift in fourth place.
The competition sparked huge local interest as locals flocked to witness the incredible leaps, thrills and spills of the contest.
