TYRONE MCCULLAGH made it five-out-of-five with a fourth round stoppage of Edwin Tellez in Belfast tonight.
The former Illies Golden Gloves puncher was fighting in a six-rounder for the first time, but he made light work of Nicaragua’s Tellez, a vastly experienced operator.
Backed by a big crowd at the Europa Hotel, McCullagh dropped Tellez to the canvas inside the opening round and the Derry native, an amateur ace in the Illies colours, took control of the bout.
McCullagh, who fights under the nickname ‘White Chocolate’ these days, landed a series of telling blows before the referee called a halt to give McCullagh a fifth win in five, four of them inside the scheduled distance.
