The first of the WFAI National Cups for 2017 gets underway this evening when Lagan Harps host Bonagee United in a tasty first round clash in the WFAI Intermediate Cup (Orchard Park, 7.15pm).
Bríd McGinty’s Lagan are the reigning Donegal Women’s League champions, while Bonagee have made a good start to the new North West Women’s Super League, although they go in on the back of a 2-0 loss to Illies.
Lagan have lost the likes of Ciana Brogan, Niamh Mailey and Caroline Gallagher from their 2016 squad, but the likes of Amy Boyd and Zoe Green still provide a big threat for the Manor side.
Bronagh Gallagher scored four on Thursday night as Lagan hammered Carndonagh FC 8-0 in the Super League.
Bonagee are under the charge of Louise Gordon this season after she assumed the reigns from Seamy McGinty at Dry Arch Park.
Deborah Kerrigan bagged two hat-tricks in the opening two games of the new Super League while Denise McElhinney, Leona Russell and Anna Doherty remain among the pivotal players for Bonagee.
