Watch: Sommer Lecky reaches new heights with massive high jump PB

Sommer Lecky reached even greater heights on Saturday with a massive new personal best and a record-breaking leap at the Ulster Schools Athletics Championships.

At the Antrim Forum, the Castlederg woman – pictured by Kieran Carlin with her coach Niall Wilkinson – leapt a super 1.85 metres.

The Finn Valley AC ace and Strabane Grammar School student took told in some style.

Lecky’s effort was a new Irish Youth, Junior, Schools, Donegal and Finn Valley AC record.

Earlier in the year, Lecky jumped to 1.82m when she reached a Commonwealth standard and is set to compete at the Commonwealth Youth Games in the summer.
