IT WAS gripping until the last blow of Joe McQuillan’s whistle as Galway eked out a win against Donegal in Letterkenny.

At seven points behind, Galway’s goose looked to be cooked, but corner-backs Johnny Heaney and Séan Kelly netted goals as Padraic Joyce’s team swung the pendulum.

Michael Murphy and Ciaran Thompson bagged the Donegal goals on a disappointing afternoon for Declan Bonner’s men as Galway won 2-8 to 2-7.
