BRETT MCGINTY FACES up to Gurgen Madoyan in a European Youth quarter-final this evening in the Russian city of Anapa – and you can watch it here.
The 17-year-old Oakleaf man meets Madoyan with a bronze medal, at least, the prize for the winner.
Four years ago, McGinty got the better of the Armenian in the European Schoolboy Championships.
Both recorded excellent wins yesterday, with McGinty defeating Laszlo Kozas and Madoyan stopping Bulgaria’s Georgiev Buzmov Asat in the second round of their contest.
McGinty was a comprehensive winner against Kozak, taking the verdict of all three judges: Belarus judge Sergeiy Parshin scored it 30-27; Russia’s Seregeiy Krutasov had it 30-26 and Azerbaijan’s Emil Gurbanaliyev had McGinty the 29-28 victor.
