LEO MCLOONE’S goal was one of the talking points in Naomh Conaill’s 1-10 to 0-12 extra-time win over St Eunan’s in the Donegal SFC semi-final yesterday.
From a dropping ball hit by Eoghan McGettigan, McLoone challenged St Eunan’s goalkeeper Shaun Patton and the ball ended up in the net, with referee Seamus McGonigle awarding the goal.
“I actually popped the ball out before I made contact with him (Patton),” McLoone said afterwards. “I got a fist on it when it was in his hands and it just went in the back of the net.”
The decision was met with divided opinion, so have a look at Donegal GAA TV’s coverage of the goal.
