Jason Quigley might only have had one fight in 2017 – but the Ballybofey boxer says he is taking a lot of positives from his scrap with Glen Tapia.
Quigley defeated Tapia over ten rounds in March to win his first professional title, the NABF middleweight belt, at Fantasy Springs.
In the process, Quigley broke his right hand and severed tendons, resulting in a lengthy lay-off.
“I’m taking all the positives and moving into 2018 with a long rest,” Quigley said in an interview for Wild Atlantic TV’s Christmas Special.
“That did me the world of good. It gave me time to filter some things out and I’m buzzing and excited for 2018.”
Quigley has since changed trainer and will be based in Sheffield with Dominic Ingle having previously worked with Manny Robles at the Rock Gym in Carson, California.
He said: “In my heart and in my stomach it feels good. In life, you go with what you’re heart feels. A lot of people will question me, but it’s absolutely perfect for me.”
