OLLIE Horgan cut a frustrated figure as Finn Harps gifted Sligo Rovers victory in tonight’s north west derby.
Tunde Owolabe struck instantly after Romeo Parkes fired Sligo ahead after six minutes, but Lewis Banks fired in the winner on 60 minutes.
“We defended poorly from set pieces and that’s why Sligo have won tonight,” Horgan sighed.
“We have conceded a few, be it from wide free kicks and tonight we’ve added corners to that.
“For once, we probably shaded the battle and we still lose. Time and time again, they’re the better side and we’re huffing and puffing.
“They won it by defending properly. We have to take our oil and move on.
“They came out on top with fine margins and fair play to them.”
Sligo played the last half-an-hour with ten men after Parkes was sent off following a clash with Kosovar Sadiki.
Harps spurned some big chances in the first half, with Owolabi going close several times.
Sligo, though, held out for a win that keeps them at the summit.
Horgan said: “It doesn’t matter where we get points, be it away in Waterford or home to Sligo. “The only stat that matters is that we have enough points after 36 games, not where we are in the break.
“We have never shied away from anything and we won’t be starting. We have a lot of energy and drive.”
