Georgie Kelly helped Dundalk earn a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Derry City at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium on Friday night.
The Tooban man earned a place in the starting eleven with head coach Vinny Perth opting to rest star striker Patrick Hoban ahead of their Champions League fixture against Latvian outfit Riga on Wednesday.
However, the league leaders never had it all their own way as David Parkhouse gave City the lead in the first half.
Re-inspired and ready to respond, Perth’s faith in Kelly proved fruitful as the 22-year-old snatch a well-placed equaliser in the opening stages of the second period.
The night ended in high drama as two late goals from Patrick Hoban (90) and Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe (94) meant that both sides earned a share of the spoils on Foyleside.
