CILL Chartha club members made plenty of noise for a very special lady’s 100th birthday today.
Nora Shovlin of Bavin thought that she wouldn’t get a chance to celebrate her milestone birthday due to Covid-19 restrictions.
But such is her popularity that her neighbours couldn’t let the occasion pass without a surprise!

CLG Chill Chartha members, keeping a safe distance, organised their own parade especially for Nora. They gave her a very deserving celebration by driving by her home, beeping loudly with the club colours on display.
Born in 1920, Nora has lived in Kilcar all her life and is a hugely-valued supporter of the local GAA club. She has worked at the heart of the community for decades in her family’s shop.
The great grandmother joins an ever-growing list of centenarians from the village. Her birthday was marked with a strong show of community spirit today, but there are sure to be even more celebrations to come when it’s safe for everyone can gather together again.
