BENNY Igiehon says he’s ‘excited’ to get his Finn Harps career off to a belated start.
Igiehon signed for Harps just before the Covid-19 pandemic shut down the League of Ireland season in early March.
The striker scored for Harps last weekend against Bonagee United in the Ulster Senior League and could make his first team debut next Saturday when Ollie Horgan’s men go to Shamrock Rovers in their post-lockdown return.
Igiehon spent the last few months in Ballybofey and is looking forward to getting back to the Premier Division.
“It was a crazy one,” Igiehon said.
“We just got together and I was looking forward to it and then lockdown happened. The good thing was I stayed local so I got to know a bit about the area, the people and the history of the club.
“I stayed in Donegal through lockdown, it was good. I got to know the history of the club and the people…”

“It was good for me in that sense, but it was very, very difficult because I didn’t get a chance to go home and see my family.”
Igiehon played for Sligo during the second half of the 2017 season, scoring two goals.
He has also lined out for Scarborough Athletic, Boston United, Alfreton Town and Larne FC.
He said: “I’m really excited for the League starting again. I’ll get myself right and I’m looking forward to having fun with the boys.”
Attendances at games will be limited due to the government guidelines, with Harps yet to confirm their own arrangements for home games.
Igiehon said: “When you have your fans around you, it gives you an extra boost, extra support, an extra push. I know the passion the Finn Harps fans have so you can carry that in your heart, even if your not there. You can feel their presence and their support. We have to give our all for the people who are supporting us.
