ODHRAN MACNIALLAIS was voted the Sky Sports/Eircom man of the match in Donegal’s 3-12 to 0-11 win over Galway in the Round 4B qualifier against Galway on Saturday.
The Gaoth Dobhair clubman (pictured above) kicked three points and contributed much else besides as Donegal, who were level at 1-4 to 0-7 at half-time, produced a fine second half performance to set up an All-Ireland quarter-final against Mayo this coming Saturday.
“We always knew we had it in us to push on in the second half and get the win,” MacNiallais old Damian Lawlor of Sky Sports. “Thankfully we did.”
Rory Gallagher, the Donegal manager, was content after his team’s 10-point win, which got his side back on track following their narrow 0-11 to 0-10 loss to Monaghan in the Ulster SFC final.
“We knew coming down, as much as you talk it up, there was a little hangover after defeat,” he said. “The dynamic changed in the second half.”
