THEY DIDN’T LEAVE much to chance.
Ulster were the comprehensive winners of the weekend’s Under-18 Hockey Inter-provincials in Cork with four wins from their four outings.
Raphoe Hockey Club’s Luke Witherow, Alexander Tinney and Ben Wallace were part of the victorious squad.
Ulster were 4-0 winners on Friday night against Munster and then sealed maximum points from two Saturday fixtures – 1-0 against Leinster and then 8-2 when they faced Munster once more, with Tinney, Ulster’s vice-captain, bagging himself a goal.
On Sunday, their title was sealed courtesy of a 2-0 success against Leinster.
Also, Richard Fairman, a former player and coach at the Royal & Prior based club, helped the Ulster Under-16 Boys to victory in their tournament, picking up 10 points from 12.
