MICHAEL DUFFY SCORED FOR Alloa today to earn an unlikely draw against Scottish Championship champions Rangers at Ibrox.
Duffy, on loan at Alloa from Celtic, shot Alloa ahead in the eighth minute.
Duffy broke clear, leaving defender Rob Kiernan in his dust, before curling expertly beyond Wes Foderingham, the Rangers goalkeeper.
Alloa had given the champions a guard of honour beforehand and Rangers were presented with the trophy after the game.
Alloa threatened to spoil the party when Duffy netted.
Rangers saw Andy Halliday – who sparked big celebrations in Ramelton last weekend – miss a penalty before James Tavernier equalised.
Duffy signed for Celtic from Derry City last February. Duffy played schoolboys football at Kildrum Tigers up to under-16 level and his father Michael ‘Bamber’ Duffy is a native of St Johnston who played for the Tigers.
