DONEGAL SOCCER LEGEND Mark Farren is showing remarkable signs of progress in his rehabilitation.
The Greencastle man, Derry City’s top scorer of all-time, was diagnosed with a Grade Four brain tumor earlier this year and spent some time in the summer at a specialist clinic in Mexico.
The 33-year-old has been working with Alec Given of Blast Fitness in Derry for the last three weeks and completed a one-mile cycle on an exercise bike yesterday.
“Mark is coming on great,” Given said.
“He’s doing basic rehab work, strengthening work, balance work, core work and improving the range of movement on his left-hand side.
“He’s doing really well and it’s mad the progress he is making. All his work and motivation is really paying off now.”
Farren, his wife Terri-Louise and nutritionist Sinead Kelly travelled to Tijuana, Mexico in the summer where Farren had four weeks of intensive treatment. A fundraising drive helped with a over £45,000 pledged to the Mark Farren Fund.
Earlier this year, Farren learned that he had a Grade Four brain tumor – the third time in six years that he had receved a brain tumor diagnosis.
