DARREN MCELWAINE WILL be the man leading out Letterkenny Rovers at the Aviva Stadium on May 14.
The Convoy native will captain the Leckview Park side in their first ever appearance in the FAI Intermediate Cup final, where they take on Crumlin United FC in just over two weeks time.
[adrotate group=”41″]McElwaine was the representative from Letterkenny along with James Lee from Crumlin United to attend Tuesday’s media day and he spoke of his pride at getting the chance to appear at the Ballsbridge venue next month.
The last time a Donegal side was even in the final of the competition was back in 1996 when a certain Eamonn McConigley – the current Letterkenny manager – was player-manager as Fanad United missed out on a third title against Wayside Celtic at Tolka Park.
[adrotate group=”42″]“There’s a brilliant buzz around Letterkenny now,” McElwaine said. “It’s our first final so there’s big excitement around Letterkenny.”
