PAUL DURCAN out in Saturday’s Middle East Round 3 League final, just a fortnight before he faces into a first ever AIB All-Ireland Club SFC semi-final with Ballyboden St Enda’s against Clonmel Commercials.
The Donegal goalkeeper kicked four points from frees for Qatar, as they lost the Senior decider to Dubai Celts by 1-7 to 1-6 in Al Ain – withe the winners managed by Paddy Gillespie, formerly of Naomh Muire.
See below for one of Durcan’s frees. Apologies for the language!

Due to the flexibility of rules in Middle East GAA, it is possible for players to line out for clubs in the Middle East and in Ireland.
The playing season finishes in April, and many players play for their home clubs during the Summer.
Ballyboden manager Andy McEntee has no worries that Durcan will be in top shape for their last-four encounter in Portlaoise.
“He has a couple of guys he does a bit of training with – in more clement weather than we are doing it in! It might be easier for him to get out!, “ McEntee said.
“Paul is serious about what he does and I have no worries about him when he comes home.
“Paul is one of a number of leaders in the squad – Stephen Hiney, Darragh Nelson, Declan O’Mahony, Michael Daragh Macauley, Conal Keaney and Andy Kerin being others.
“Preparing for a first All-Ireland semi-final or a tenth – it’s a massive occasion for individuals and for the club. I’d just like to go and hope that we can prepare to go out and perform well on the day.”
