AMBER BARRETT admits her Donegal team were “in mourning” following their loss to Armagh in the Tesco HomeGrown Ladies National Football League Division 2 final.
That 4-18 to 4-6 loss in May at Parnell Park, though, was something of a catalyst for Davy McLaughlin’s Donegal, who went into defeat Monaghan to lift the Ulster SFC for the first time ever.
Now, on Saturday in Clones, the provincial champions face the Orchard County again in the TG4 All-Ireland ladies quarter-final.
“We were disappointed in the league final,” Barrett (pictured above) said. “We were in mourning for a couple of weeks after. But in fairness to Armagh the best team won on the day. May 9 is a long time ago.”
