BRENDAN RODGERS HAS revealed that he saw Celtic for the first time as an 11-year-old playing at Finn Park in Ballybofey.
Rodgers gave his first press conference as Celtic manager today.
After being confirmed as Ronnie Deila’s replacement at Celtic Park at the end of last week, the Northern Irishman was presented to the media in Glasgow this afternoon.
The 43-year-old former Liverpool manager has been given a 12-month rolling contract at Celtic Park.
A boyhood Celtic fan from Carnlough in County Antrim, Rodgers told the assembled media of his first taste of seeing the Hoops in action
[adrotate group=”50″]“I have my uncles and cousins here in the room and they started me off from early years, listening in on the radio,” he said.
“The first game that I went to was in 1984, a friendly, Celtic versus Finn Harps. That was when I was 11 years of age.”
[adrotate group=”62″]Rodgers was among around 5,000 who saw Roy Aitken score twice after John McInally had opened the scoring as Celtic won 3-0 on a day when John Beresford and Paul Simpson played for Harps.
