CIARAN McGonigle won the 50k race at the inaugural Whitespace Northern Ulster and Ulster 50K and 100K Championships.
At Down Royal racecourse, Letterkenny AC’s McGonigle came home in two hours, 59 minutes and 26 seconds.
McGonigle won from Gareth King, who was second.
Maghera man Tommy Stewart was third, smashing the world record in his age group, finishing in 3:06:28.
West Donegal man McGonigle came led the way for the most part, com in through the midway mark in around 1:27:37.
