Letterkenny AC’s Karol Duggan had a fine run today at the annual Antrim International Cross Country.
Duggan, who has only recently returned to athletics after 17 years out of the runners, finished in 26th place in the race today.
Duggan wore an Irish vest as a teenager before drifting away from the sport.
However, he returned this season to win the Donegal Cross Country Championship and then won a gold with Ireland at the British and Irish Masters in Derry before taking part in Antrim in the 41st edition of the annual race today.
Kenyans Timothy Cheruiyot and Margaret Chelimo Kipkemboi won the races.
The 2017 world 1500m silver medallist Cheruiyot had the edge on Mogos Tuemay of Ethiopia to win the men’s 7200m and Kipkemboi came through to hold off Ethiopian Fotyen Tesfay.
Ireland’s Fionnuala McCormack finished in fifth.
