THE ULSTER FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION will await the referee’s report before deciding on a course of action after Saturday’s Ulster Youth Cup final was marred by an ugly melee.
Letterkenny Rovers defeated Blayney Rovers 2-0 in the final at The Peacelink in Clones, but the fixture ended in controversy when a brawl broke out.
The incident took place in injury time and the referee, Paul McGeown, called a halt to proceedings.
While no red cards were issued by the official, senior members of the Ulster FA were present, witnessed the episode and are likely to take a dim view when they next convene.
“It was a very serious situation and it’s not acceptable,” said Ulster FA Chairman Ernie Pollock.
“We’ll await the referee’s report, which we will get during the week and we will discuss that report and see where we go from there.”
Tarlach O’Boyle and David O’Donnell netted the goals as Anthony Gorman’s Rovers took the win.
