TYLER TOLAND and the Republic of Ireland Women’s Under-17s topped Group 10 thanks to a come-from-behind win over Iceland.
Dave Bell’s team were top of the pile in their qualifying group going into this evening’s game at Turner’s Cross after a 6-0 win over Faroe Islands and a 2-0 triumph against Belarus.
They secured the top spot and head into the Elite Qualifying Round in 2017 in fine fettle after a 4-1 win over Iceland.
St Johnston’s Toland, who plays her club football with Maiden City, played the full game tonight as Ireland responded to falling behind by recording a superb win.
Hlin Elriksdottir’s opening goal on 23 minutes rocked the Girls in Green, but they drew level when Carla McManus drilled home for her fifth goal in three games.
Ireland went in front thanks to an own goal in the 50th minute while Megan Mackey’s late brace wrapped up a fine week for Ireland and for Toland, a student at Deele College, who played in each of the three games.
