Donegal Ice Swimmer Paddy Bond was back in the ice this weekend in Hatfield, Doncaster at the GB Ice Swimming Championships.
Paddy was recently selected to represent Ireland at the World Championships in Murmansk, Russia on St Patrick’s weekend.
Now swimming in the 40-44 section the current 35-39 world champion had to settle for second place in the 1000 metre freestyle with a time of 18.03 in water temperatures of 5.5 degrees.
On Sunday he competed in both 100m free and 100m Individual medal, finishing 9th overall in the free and second overall rounded a very successful weekend.
Up next is the Irish Championships being held again in Wild Water, Armagh on the 26th of January and then on to the Worlds in March.
Included in the Irish Championships this year are shorter distances and relays if anyone wants to dip their toe in ice cold water.
Registration details are on the Irish ice swimming website if anyone is brave enough.
