NAOMH Conaill and Gaoth Dobhair – the last two holders of the Dr Maguire Cup – have been drawn together in the quarter-finals of the 2021 Donegal Senior Football Championship.
The SFC quarter-final draw was one of a series of Championship draws conducted in Ballyshannon today.
Naomh Conaill and Gaoth Dobhair – two of only three teams already assured of a quarter-final berth before this weekend’s conclusion of the group phase – were the first names out of the hat as the last eight pairings were made.
The game is a repeat of the epic 2019 final which saw Naomh Conaill prevail after two replays.
The winner of the Naomh Conaill-Gaoth Dobhair clash will face the victor from the Sean MacCumhaills-Kilcar quarter-final in the semi-finals.
MacCumhaills edged their way into the quarter-finals thanks to a six-point win over Termon at The Burn Road today, Paul Rouse’s men making it through thanks to a superior score difference.
St Michael’s will face Aodh Ruadh while St Eunan’s will take on quarter-final first timers St Naul’s.
The draws were made for the relegation play-offs and the semi-final pairings for the Intermediate Football Championship semi-finals were also conducted.
