DONEGAL overcame Galway 3-12 to 0-11 to seal their place in an All-Ireland quarter-final against Mayo. Here’s how Twitter reacted to the big game last night.
All the talk pre-match was about Michael Murphy’s well-being, but the Glenswilly man started and showed no ill-effects.
There were, though, three changes to the team that had been named the previous evening. Eamonn Doherty and Martin O’Reilly came in while the starting of Hugh McFadden was of interest, as Kieran Cunningham noted.
Hugh McFadden is first Killybegs man to start Championship game for Donegal since 1998. Club used to dominate county team.

Donegal didn’t take long to hit the ground running. Six minutes in and Patrick McBrearty goaled. As the lads at SportsJoe.ie suggested, it was all down to Colm McFadden.
GOAL! Donegal
Mac Niallais over the top to McFadden, dummy, drive, hand pass, McBrearty… SMASH! Goal

Donegal fashioned another goal chance in the 15th minute, but had to settle for a Patrick McBrearty point. As Armagh legend Aaron Kernan showed, Neil Gallagher’s pass into Frank McGlynn outlined the Glenswilly man’s in-game intelligence.
Good vision & a timed run takes out 9 Galway players with a 25m punt pass to create a goal chance for Donegal. pic.twitter.com/1Z836Y4DqJ

Paul Conroy drew Galway level just before half-time and Irish Daily Star Chief Sports Writer Kieran Cunningham, who hails from Glencolmcille, was concerned at the interval.
No Donegal score in last 20 minutes of half. Same drought in both halves v Derry. An hour without score from play v Monaghan.

Milford’s Aidan O’Donnell covered the Donegal sports beat before moving to Canada and was cheering on via a sometimes shaky connection.
Internet connection is a little dodgy today but enjoying the Donegal-Galway All-Ireland qualifier nevertheless from here in Edmonton.

Donegal really took control when Ryan McHugh finished for a classy goal ten minutes from the end. Michael Murphy’s superb knock-down from Colm McFadden’s pass provided the opening. It was a goal that Pat Shovelin had seen many times in training during his time as Donegal’s goalkeeping coach.
Unbelievable knock down by @murphm95 and some finish by @McHughRyan defo the goal of the summer. Come on Donegal keep it going now.

Just for good measure, Donegal added a third goal late in the day – and Frances Harkin was impressed by Christy Toye’s strike, just three minutes after his introduction.
Some super goals there from Donegal! My favourite has to be Toye's 'first touch of the game' goal though! #GAA #Donegal

At one stage in the first half, Donegal were being booed while they played keep-ball – despite Galway having all of their players behind the ball at the time. Donna Martin hit back after the game.
Not as much booing from the Galway spectators in the second half! Hup Donegal! #donvgal #skysports #10points #murphy

Eve-Anne McCarron from Raphoe was delighted with the ten-point win – as were Ella and Evan!
That's the way to do it Donegal! Proud of ya! @officialdonegal pic.twitter.com/hy6M8uP5Fs

Former Derry star Paddy Bradley watched a re-run and reckons Murphy should be kept inside.
Just watched Donegal Galway game. Have we not been saying Murphy to Full Forward for a while now

The Donegal County Board Treasurer, Cieran Kelly, is pleased with the progress to the last eight.
Good Day at the office for @officialdonegal in @CrokePark. Looking forward to the quarter final vs @MayoGAA.#Donegal #gaa

Former Donegal Chairman and current Ardara manager John McConnell is less than satisfied with the scheduling of the quarter-final – another 6pm Saturday throw-in for Donegal.
@eamonnbilly @officialgaa it's absolutely scandalous. Another 6pm start for donegal people as well. Sure who are we.

RTE presenter Des Cahill thinks the teams should just go gung-ho next Saturday.
Right.. Stick Michael Murphy on one square..Aidan O'Shea on the other..& off we go!! #Donegal v #Mayo. #GAA
