THE RETIREMENT of Colm McFadden from inter-county football was a big talking point following Donegal’s loss to Dublin last night.
Dublin advanced to the All-Ireland semi-finals after defeating Donegal 1-15 to 1-10 at Croke Park.
In the wake of a loss that ends Donegal’s summer, McFadden – who scored 25-434 in 170 appearances for the county – confirmed that he had played his final game for the county.
Former Dublin star Alan Brogan led the tributes to the St Michael’s man and the Twitter plaudits were plentiful for McFadden:
[adrotate group=”81″]Always enjoyed watching Colm McFadden..he was top class. Not easy tonight but he deserves the plaudits for what he gave to Donegal.

Colm McFadden has retired. His impact on big games was massive. And he was sensible enough to stay off social media.Good luck to him.
