ARDAL MCDERMOTT HAS been handed a difficult championship opener in the Nicky Rackard Cup.
The new Donegal manager, who took over from Ray Durack in September, saw his side paired with Armagh with the fixture – most likely in the Athletic Grounds – down for April 23.
The Orchard County defeated Donegal in last year’s semi-finals 1-19 to 1-12 but lost to Roscommon in the final.
As with the Christy Ring Cup, in the Rackard there is a qualifier system, with a draw taking place for Round Two.
Donegal won the competition in 2013 following a 3-20 to 3-16 win over Roscommon at Croke Park, having won the Lory Meagher Cup in 2011.
