THERE WAS disappointment for Finn Valley AC’s Tori Peña at the European Athletics Championships this morning.
Pole vaulter Peña bowed out of the Championships after failing to clear 4.45 metres at the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam.
Next month, Peña will compete at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and recently won her seventh Irish senior pole vault title.
Peña cleared 4.20m and 4.35m, meaning she has just had her best Championships in the Irish vest.
There was no joy for the Californian, however, missing the 4.45m mark.
Peña would have needed to clear 4.55m to qualify.
Donegal town native Karl Griffin is in action in the 800m in Amsterdam later this morning.
