Tiger Woods is rumoured to be amongst the names that may T-off in Donegal in July.
The 14-time major winner has returned to the game recently and speculation is raising that he could use the Duty Free Irish Open in Ballyliffin in an effort to get more competitive action under his belt.
With Rory MacIllroy already confirmed for the event, Padraig Harrington has suggested that Woods needs to play more events in order to achieve a 15th major title.
The Irish Open takes place from the 5th to the 8th of July and Woods could potentially use it as a warm-up event for The Open at Carnoustie.
Player announcements will be coming in the next few weeks with many names being mentioned. Last year’s winner Jon Rahm is also confirmed for the event. But it is sure that Woods would add much prestige and personality to the event.
With high numbers of tourists expected to travel to Donegal in the summer for the event there is no doubting that if Tiger Woods announces he’ll be playing ticket sales will go through the roof.
