TERMON GO in search of a place in the final of the foneacab Ulster Minor Tournament in Belfast this afternoon.
Termon face Kilcoo in the second semi-final of the tournament, hosted by the St Paul’s club.
The Burn Road side are bidding to reach the January 1 decider, but will be under no illusions about the task that awaits.
“Kilcoo are off the back of the Ulster senior championship and the minors are probably training with the seniors,” Termon player Steve McDaid said in a recent interview with Jerome Quinn Media.
“It’ll be a god test. But you want good games against good teams.”
In their Ulster quarter-final, Termon had a whopping 26 points to spare in a lopsided 6-14 to 0-6 win over Emyvale.
Ryan McFadden (2), Jack Alcorn, Stephen Black, Conor McFadden and Bobby McGettigan bagged the goals in the triumph over the Monaghan champions.
Termon were also in preliminary round action in Belfast and Ryan McFadden’s penalty was key in 1-10 to 0-6 success against Silverbridge.
“They were two impressive wins for us,” Steve McDaid said.
“Getting over Silverbridge was a big one. We kicked on in the second half against Emyvale.
“We’ve been very good so far. Scoring has been a good attribute for us and scoring forwards are important. There are four very good teams left yet.
Back in September, Trevor Alcorn’s Termon came from six points down to defeat Gaoth Dobhair 1-11 to 2-4 in the Donegal Minor final with Mark Gallagher bagging a late goal.
Termon will be bidding to overcome the disappointment of defeat in Saturday’s Minor League final against Four Masters.
Mark Gallagher’s goal gave Termon an early advantage, but Four Masters hit back to win 2-9 to 2-4 in Burt, where Jamie Grant hit a late consolation three-pointer.
Lavey are already into the New Year’s Day final after the Derry outfit defeated Enniskillen Gaels in Sunday’s first semi-final by 0-11 to 0-5, with Matthew Downey clipping seven points.
