TEDDY SHERINGHAM has spoken of how impressed he is with Letterkenny native Dale Gorman.
Former England international Sheringham took over as manager at Gorman’s Stevenege FC in May and has been casting an eye over the 18-year-old in pre-season.
Yesterday, at the Lamez Stadium, Stevenege went down 2-0 against a Tottenham Hotspur XI – made up entirely of players from the North London club’s academy with Nathan Oduwa’s opener and Shayon Harrison’s second-half penalty sealing the win.
“Dale Gorman is a fantastic young player,” Sheringham said afterwards. “He’s still only a young lad and needs to learn his position but he did well and has impressed me since I’ve come in. We are very much a work in progress but we can take some positives from our game against Spurs.”
Stevenage open their Sky Bet League Two campaign at home to Notts County on Saturday and Gorman, formerly of Letterkenny Rovers, will be looking to make a first team debut in the coming season.
