BRENDA SWEENEY and Orla McGonigle both netted hat-tricks last night as Glenree United scored a big win over Finn Valley in the Donegal Women’s League.
Glenree United 8 Finn Valley 0
Glenree opened the scoring 15 minutes into the match after persistent pressure by Sweeney on the Valley back line eventually paying off, she broke the offside trap and hit a left footed shot low into the corner of the net.
Noelle McMenamin hit a thunderous strike five minutes later from outside the box to double the lead.

Danielle Doherty came close minutes after the restart with a free kick from 40 yards out but the ball flew inches over the bar.
Valley finished the half with a flurry of chances and were unlucky on two occasions not to get on the score sheet but for fine goal keeping by Clare Friel in nets for the home side.
[adrotate group=”46″]Valley’s Aisling Grieve and Lisa Mc Cafferty were causing problems on the wings leading to numerous chances late in the half, but the half time whistle blew just as Valley had the home side well on the back foot.
Minutes into the second half Sweeney completed her hat-trick after breaking past the valley defense onto a through ball and calmly tucked the ball into the net.
McGonigle got two more goals in quick succession in the second to complete her hat-trick; one from a long ball, the other was a well weighted through ball by Michelle Mc Devitt who made her senior debut.
Julie Trearty got on the score sheet late in the match after breaking down the right and putting the ball high into the right of the net.
Best for Valley: Ridhcheall Doherty, Lisa McCafferty, Aisling Grieve. Best for Glenree: Niamh McDevitt, Orla McGonigle, Brenda Sweeney.
