BRENDAN BOYCE CAME Â home this afternoon in 19th place in the 50k walk at the Olympic Games in Rio.
And that’s where he will stay. Hirokai Arai finished the race this afternoon in third place but was later found guilty of a hip check on Evan Dunfree of Canada. The Canadians filed an ultimately successful protest and Dunfee, who was 14 seconds behind Arai in the chase for third before ending up in fourth, was upgraded to bronze.
[adrotate group=”81″]Therefore, Ireland’s Rob Heffernan was promoted to fifth and Boyce, from Milford, upgraded to 18th.
However, Japan managed a successful in their counter-protest, so Arai was restored to third, which means Dunfee misses out on bronze and Heffernan back to sixth and Boyce to 19th.
Tags:The disqualification of Hirooki Arai of Japan has been overturned. So Robert Heffernan 6th + Brendan Boyce 19th as originally placed
