THERE WAS GLORY for Twin Towns boxers Ciara Anderson and Donna Barr in the Celtic Box Cup in Dungarvan.
Irish champions Anderson and Barr were celebrating at the prestigeous tournament that attracted entries from throughout Europe, Australia and Dubai.
Anderson, a grand-daughter of former Irish olympian Brian Anderson senior, defeated Shauna Clavin with a first round stoppage in the Youth 48kgs final.
Anderson was on top and did enough in the opening round to ensure that Clavin didn’t answer the bell for the second round.
At 51kgs, Barr defeated Aleksandra Kornaga from Carrickmacross on a majority 2-1 decision.
On Friday, Twin Towns trio Barry Doherty, Cathal Gallagher and Paul Darby lost out in their bouts.
Meanwhile, the Donegal Open Championship and Donegal Novice Championships were held in Buncrana.
Finn Valley’s ten-time Irish champion Michael Gallagher overcame Simon McElwee from Churchlands 3-0 in his open final while Raphoe’s Danny Doogan defeated Dungloe’s David Tennyson 3-0.
There was a big entry from Donegal, Derry, Tyrone and Sligo for the Donegal Novice Championships.
