Team Ireland swimmer Anna Hennessy had major success at the recent Swim Ulster Open Disability Swimming Championships.
The Letterkenny athlete took home four medals in the Disability Sports NI event in Newry last Saturday.
Anna (19) claimed gold, two silver and bronze medals in the open competition.
She came first in the 50m backstroke, marking a notable personal achievement in this style.
Training has clearly paid off the multi-skilled swimmer, who also claimed silver medals in the 50m butterfly and 50m front crawl. She went on to take bronze in the 100m front crawl – also a new distance win.
Anna trains with the Special Olympics Team Ireland squad and locally with Team Ulster.
She is aiming for further success at the European Down Syndrome Open Swimming Competition this April, following her gold and bronze wins in Southampton in 2018.
Anna also has her sights set on gaining a qualifying time for the 5th Down Syndrome Open European Championships in Italy this September.
