Strand Rovers moved to within one win of retaining their Glencar Inn Saturday League crown after a derby win at Keadue.

Strand started the brighter, moving the ball around well but without stretching the home defence.
Keadue did start to create a few openings, especially down the right wing with Christy Greene making a few good runs but the crosses into the box were well dealt with by the Strand defence.
The visitors started to get on top in the middle of the field, but their final ball was well dealt with by the Keadue defence.
Into the second half and things were a good bit more open and Keadue had the first good chance of the half when some good work down the right wing led to Mikey Mc Fadden’s effort which was well saved by Kevin Mc Govern.
The visitors responded well and had a good period after 50 minutes where they started to gain territory.
On 56 minutes, Dylan Boyle was through on the left side of the box but when one on one he put his effort over the bar. A minute later the same player was through on goal but this time Declan Ward in the Keadue nets denied him.
Keadue then had a good spell, winning plenty of possession and creating a few chances.
On 65 minutes Christy Greene was put through but his shot was saved and only a few minutes later Peter McGee also had a good chance but this time his shot was well saved.
Just when it looked like a draw was the likely outcome, a slip in the Keadue defence led to sub Shaun McGee going through on goal and his shot found the bottom corner to give the visitors the lead.
The game opened up after this. On 88 minutes, the game was decided when Shaun Sharkey was on hand to volley home for the visitor’s second and in the last minute the ever-dangerous Dylan Boyle took possession on the left of the box, cut in and drilled low to the net for a 3-0 win.
Best for Strand were Dylan Boyle, James Mc Cole and Matthew O’Donnell, while best for Keadue were Michael Greene, Christy Greene and Shaun Burns.
