ST MICHAEL’S maintained their place on top of the All-County Football League Division 1 with a four-point win over Dungloe at Rosses Park.
Seven days out from their RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta SFC quarter-final against Malin, the Dunfanaghy-based side will however be sweating over the fitness of Colm McFadden (pictured above), who was forced off with an ankle injury in the 1-10 to 0-9 victory.
Ciaran Gallagher scored the vital goal for the visitors, while Andrew Kelly continued his fine recent form of late with three points.
Naomh Conaill jumped over St Eunan’s into second place with a useful 1-13 to 1-12 victory against Kilcar in Towney with Kevin McGettigan’s goal proving vital for the team managed by Martin Regan.
Kilcar, who welcomed back Patrick McBrearty and David McShane to their start XV after recent injuries, scored the first three points of the game but then conceded eight on the bounce with Dermot Molloy, Daragh Gallagher and Anthony Thompson on the scoreboard to set up a 0-10 to 0-4 half-time lead.
McGettigan’s goal came on 37 minutes and Naomh Conaill were 1-12 to 0-8 up at a stage before Kilcar rallied.
Ryan McHugh, who started on the bench but was introduced for Pauric Carr on 16 minutes, goaled following a Mark Sweeney pass on 46 minutes but Naomh Conaill held onto win.
Meanwhile, Gaoth Dobhair’s fixture against Four Masters was postponed due to a bereavement.
