St Mary’s Convoy started thier championship campaign with an away win at Robert Emmets on Sunday in Castlefinn.

Emmets had some wayward shooting and showed they were an organised outfit and certainly gave convoy a tough game.
A very good defensive display with Marcus Curran, Paddy Dooher, Paul Farrell and Gavin Friel excelling for Robert Emmets.
Convoys experience and forthcoming Division 2 status were too strong for Emmets but the home side proving they could mix it with them.
The home side started the scoring but the next five points came from the visitors with J.Mc Gill and P.Dolan scoring two each and J.Toye pointing as well 0-1 to 0-5
Robert Emmets free but it’s was St Mary’s lads who finished the stronger with three unanswered points from E.Patterson and two superb points from P.Blake
After the break, Convoy extended their lead as J.Mc gill scored two points in a row before Red Emmets converted a free-kick.
With time running out it was Convoy who finished the stronger with an excellent run from P.Dolan who fisted the ball over the bar to take the last score of the game
