ST JOHNSTON gave their hopes of survival in the North West Premiership a real shot in the arm on Saturday.
The Saints recorded a fine 71-run win over fellow strugglers Bready, who are now bottom of the pile on their own.
Rammohan Goud (pictured above) starred for the Donegal team. Goud posted five fours and a six before to reach 41 by the time he was run out.
Kevin Martin and Khushpal Singh both claimed 28 and Ryan Macbeth scored 14 with St Johnston’s tally boosted significantly by 35 ‘extras’. St Johnston made 171 all out, one of their best of the campaign.
Bready’s response could hardly have got off to a worse start. Goud bowled David Rankin for five and Reece Kelly was bowled out by the on-song St Johnston ace for a ‘duck’. Bready’s high order batsmen struggled.
Michael Loubser threatened to make hay, but David Anthony caught him off Ian Macbeth’s bowl for 26 while David Barr walked with 17 aside his name.
Jassi Wallia claimed the last three Bready wickets and conceded only four runs in the process as St Johnston put the Magheramason side all out for 104.
Meanwhile, the St Johnston under-13s take on Bonds Glen this evening in the Cup semi-final.
