St. Eunan’s got their opening victory in the senior hurling league with a win over Aodh Ruadh in O’Donnell Park.
St. Eunan’s 3-10 Aodh Ruadh 2-8
A strong first half performance with the wind laid the foundations for the outcome.
Two early points from Sean McVeigh and Eoin Scanlon were followed by a goal on 7 minutes from Cian Durack.

Eddie Lynch and Rory Cullen finally registered scores for the visitors on 19 and 22 minutes.
McVeigh and Meehan added two more points for St. Eunan’s, while Lynch finished the scoring for the half, leaving the home team 2-7 to 0-3 in front at the break.
A comeback looked on the cards when the Ballyshannon men resumed strongly, with an early point from Stephen Connolly and a goal on 34 minutes from Cian Dolan.
Any threat was quickly halted when two St. Eunan’s points from Meehan and Kevin Kealy were followed on 36 minutes by a third goal for the home team by McVeigh.
Aodh Ruadh dominated the next part of the game, but could only reduce the margin by three points through two Lynch frees and Connolly.
In the final ten minutes Meehan and Lynch exchanged frees. A late Ciaran Kilgallon goal four minutes from time left the Letterkenny team five points ahead at the final whistle.
