SIX senior girls from St. Bernadette’s school in Letterkenny competed in the All-Ireland girls basketball final in the National Sports Arena at Abbotstown last week.
St Bernadette’s won the final, defeating St Joseph’s from Galway 4-1 in the decider. The Letterkenny girls impressed throughout the tournament and excelled in the final to be crowned the All-Ireland champions.
St Bernadette’s won all of their group games, defeating Crumlin 7-0, Glasnevin 6-0, Galway 3-1 and Mullingar 2-1.
In the semi-final, St Bernadette’s defeated Drogheda 6-2.
The St Bernadette’s team was made up of Holly Roberts, Chantelle Quigley, Melissa Mathews, Annia Mikolajek, Amy McClure, Alannah Kildea.
The players were accompanied by St Bernadette’s staff Carmel Ponsonby and Bernie McFeeley as well as Letterkenny Community Centre Coach Monica Grier.
