SIX DONEGAL footballers have been nominated for PwC GAA All-Star awards.
The list of nominees was released this morning and Donegal has the highest representation outside of the All-Ireland finalists, Dublin and Kerry.
After winning five-in-a-row, Dublin have 13 nominees while Kerry have nine and Dublin have a clean sweep of nominees for Footballer of the Year.
Donegal are well placed.
Captain Michael Murphy and Ryan McHugh, both who are two-time All-Stars, are included on the list.
Shaun Patton is nominated with Dublin’s Stephen Cluxton and Shane Ryan of Kerry for the goalkeeper’s position.
McHugh is joined by Stephen McMenamin in a defensive nomination while Murphy, Jamie Brennan and Patrick McBrearty are among the 18 forwards on the list.
The PwC All-Stars are chosen by a committee made up of members of the national broadcast, print and digital media. The final selection of 15 players will be made late next month and all players will be honoured at a gala black tie banquet at Dublin’s Concention Centre on Friday, November 1 – an event which will be shown live on RTÉ TV.
