CARNDONAGH’S CLARKE SISTERS both returned home from Dublin last night after winning Irish titles.
Labhoise and Jessica Clarke are two rising names in female boxing in Ireland and they left two more calling cards on the canvas at The National Stadium in their respective finals at the National Girls’ Championships.
The wins bring to ten the number of titles won by the Carndonagh ABC sisters, with Labhaoise landing her eighth Irish crown and Jessica bagging her second national triumph.
In the Girl 6 final at 57kgs, Labhaoise wasted no time in claiming her win.
Up against Ryston’s Ava Doyle in the decider, Labhaoise was on the attack from the first bell.
A barrage of punches from the on-fire Clarke – who’d won a gold medal at the Brampton Cup in Canada earlier in the year – rocked Doyle.
The Ryston woman took a count and the glazed eyes said it all. With little more than a minute gone, coach Paddy Phelan had the towel resting on the top rope, confirming Clarke as the champion.
Jessica Clarke won her second Irish title with a tricky win over Jessica Connolly from Ballaghaderreen.

Clarke – who beat Kasey Holohan from St John Bosco in her semi-final on Friday night – claimed the win via a split decision and it was a clean sweep for the sisters.
