SINEAD Jennings is within touching distance of the Olympic Games in Rio.
The 38-year-old Letterkenny woman and her partner, Claire Lambe, came second in their quarter-final at the World Rowing Championships in Aiguebelette, France, this morning.
That means the pair go in one of tomorrow’s semi-finals of the lightweight double sculls.
Should they come through that as one the top 11 of the 12 semi-finalists their boat is bound for Rio.
Jennings and Lambe came through their quarter-final in a time of 7:15.490, with the German’s, Fini Sturm and Marie-Louise Draeger, first in 7:13.950.
They had cruised through their heat on Monday to advance.
In 2001, Jennings was a world champion in the lightweight single women’s scull.
