BUNCRANA’S Oliver Doherty has won a silver medal at the Special Olympic World Games in Los Angeles.
The 39-year-old (pictured above) took silver in the Level 5 Stroke Play 18 Hole section.
This is the third time for Doherty to medal at the World Games. He won a gold in Dublin in 2003 before scooping silver in Shangai in 2007.
On Wednesday, he shot the lowest round of his Special Olympics career when carding a 2-under at Griffith Park.
Earlier today, Doherty scored 287 with the event won by American Scott Rohrer, who hit 276.
At the opening ceremony, Doherty accompanied the Special Olympics flag as part of the procession.
Letterkenny gymnast Patrick Quinlivan is in action later today.
