Cappry Rovers 1 Fintown Harps 1, Fintown won 5-4 on pens
It was a match in which a strong breeze played a major factor. Playing with the breeze in the first half Fintown started well.
They took the lead on fifteen minutes when Oisin Caulfield did well to create space for himself at the edge of the area before firing home.
Cappry came in to it as the half wore on but suffered a blow when Mark Mbuli went off after a collision with Fintown keeper Charlie Bennett.
Cappry dominated the second half but found Fintown keeper Charlie Bennett was in outstanding form. He pulled off a number of fine saves, particularly from the dangerous Jason Dunne.
As the breeze picked up Cappry pressed for an equaliser but Ben Campbell and Robbie McDonald were solid at the back.
Right back Jack McGlynn was outstanding as the pressure mounted. Cappry finally made the breakthrough on 55 minutes when Jamie Murray fired him a superb free from wide on the left.
Cappry had stand out performances from Jason Dunne. Jamie Murray, Sean Ryan and Oisin Mc Glinchey, but Fintown held firm.
Both teams went for it in extra time but there were to be no further goals.
A great game from two outstanding teams.
Thanks to Robbie White and Lifford Celtic got the use of the pitch and referee Joe McHugh for a solid job.
Best of luck to Cappry and also Lagan Harps who start their champions league campaigns next weekend.
